Hollywood (dBTechno) – Sony has announced that they are bringing back the internet video-sharing site Group with Crackle.com.

Crackle.com is going to be an entertainment site whcih will be loaded to the brink with clips and entire original series of content.  Sony Pictures purchased the group Grouper one year ago and will now put them to use by launching their site once again, Crackle.com.

Grouper had about 25 million unique visitors each month in its previous version of its site.  The original vision for the site was to allow for friends and family to share photos and videos.  The makeover of the site is going to go from user-generated to more of a solid entertainment service.  Josh Felser who is the founder of Group stated that “The content (of user-generated material) is rarely exclusive, and it’s hard to monetize.”  He was talking about the decision to move away from user-generated material.

Crackle also has plans to put its content on the PlayStation 3 as well.
