The new Zune is going to have many new features and will have a much smaller design as well as flash-based storage.

The original Zune was heavily criticized by many users as they stated that it was simply too big and did not have enough features. The new flash-based Zune is a move in the right direction. The current Zune measures 4.4 inches by 2.4 inches.

The Zune 2 which is expected to be announced on Tuesday will be much smaller as it will be around 3 inches by 1.25 inches. As you can see Microsoft is cutting off a full inch in terms of both the length and height of the device.

The Zune 2 is expected to take a hit in terms of storage though as it will likely release in 4GB and 8GB versions and will feature video playback as well as WiFi access.

The Microsoft Zune 2 is expected to release in November. This comes as Microsoft recently dropped the price of the original Zune by $50 in September down to $199.99.

The announcement is expected from both Bill Gates and J. Allard on the new device as well as new Zune accessories and a new Zune community website.

  • And yet it will still suck!

The only reason to buy this is if you are a fan of “squirting” and “squircles”. Yes, these are official Microsoft terms for the Zune.

  • I think that Zunes totally rock and they kick ipod butt. If Zunes were never made, the world would still be in peril having to listen to stupid ipods.

    thank you and good day.

    Zunes kick ipod butt!
