London (dbTechno) – McDonald’s, the massive global fast food chain, has announced that they are going to offer free wireless internet access in 1,200 restaurants in the UK making free WiFi broadband access available to the masses.
The broadband market in the UK is growing and has been dominated thus far by certain service plans which require you to pay a fee each time to use them. At a usual WiFi hot-spot a user may have to pay around 5 pounds or $10 for one hour of broadband use.
The launch of the McDonald’s WiFi hotspots in the UK is a major announcement as it will make up for 10 percent of the total WiFi hot-spots in the UK. There are around 11,500 WiFi hot-spots in the UK and the major providers include T-Mobile, Deutsche Telecom, The Cloud, and BT.
McDonald’s is making a bold and free move in the UK which can only mean cheaper and more efficient service for all in that part of the world that wants broadband internet access at all times and for free.
