Google Announces $10 Million Prize In Android Challenge

Boston (dbTechno) – Google has announced the Android Developer Challenge will take place in an attempt to try and spark interest and innovation in the new mobile Android platform, with prizes going up to $10 million.

Developers are going to be going toe to toe to try and win prizes. Developers are going to be trying to create the best mobile applications for Android.

The winners will get prizes ranging from $25,000 to $275,000.

A panel of judges including technology and mobile experts selected from the Open Handset Alliance member organizations as well as the industry will choose the winners.

The winners will be awarded based on application’s uses of the entire Android platform, as well as making it a very interesting and innovative experience for the consumer.

Developers will also retain intellectual property and rights to the application. With $10 million in prizes to be distributed between Android Developer Challenge 1 and 2, Google is hoping for true innovation to come through.

Sergey Brin of Google stated “We’ve built some interesting applications for Android but the best applications are not here yet and that’s because they’re going to be written by developers.”
