Orlando (dbTechno) – The NASA Space Shuttle Atlantis completed its 13-day mission by safely touching down on Earth on Wednesday. The mission consisted of them delivering and installing the European Space Agency lab Columbus on the International Space Station.
All was good with the landing as everything went smoothly, with the weather cooperating very nicely.
The space shuttle Atlantis touched down at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 1407 GMT according to reports.
The Atlantis crew also replaced an empty nitrogen tank on the International Space Station, as well as retrieving a failed gyroscope during their three spacewalks.
NASA stated that the mission was very successful.
They are already now looking ahead for a launch of the Endeavour orbiter on March 11th. It is already on the launch pad at the Kennedy Space Center.
The plan is to complete construction of the ISS by the time the orbiter fleet is retired in 2010.
