Microsoft Glitch Releases Vista SP1 To Public Early

Washington (dbTechno) – Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 1 was but set to release to the public until the middle of March. A glitch in the Microsoft delivery system though released the new Vista SP1 update early to many Vista users.

Windows users who run the 64-bit version of Vista were able to download Vista SP1 when they did the “check for new update” option in Windows Update.

It was not released to all who had Windows Vista though as originally believed.

That particular version of Vista though was able to download the SP1 update through Windows Update.

Microsoft put out a statement on the matter.

“A build of SP1 was posted to Windows Update and it was inadvertantly made available to a broad group. The build was intended only for our more technically advances testers, and was meant to only be offered to those with a specific registry key set on their PC. For general availability, we are still planning to make SP1 broadly available in the mid-March timeframe.”

Earlier in February, Microsoft finalized the code for Vista SP1, which has been highly anticipated.

The version of SP1 which was released by accident was the final RTM version, only with a beta designation.
