Apple Sued For iMac Millions of Colors Claim

Boston (dbTechno) – Apple Inc. has been sued by an iMac owner over the statement that the iMac desktop computer can display “millions of colors.” The iMac owner states that Apple was wrong in the claim, as it cannot actually pull this off.

The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Columbia. It was filed by iMac owner Chandra Sanders. She is seeking class-actioni status for the lawsuit.

The only iMac in question is the 20-inch “Aluminum iMacs” put out in August 2007.

Apple is being sued over the promotional claim that the iMac display can pump out “millions of colors.” According to the lawsuit, it can only put out 262,144 true colors.

The lawsuit states that consumers are tricked into thinking that they see more colors than they actually do. The technology used in the iMac does not actually put out real colors, it instead tricks the eyes into seeing different colors. The lawsuit states that this can cause many problems for people who are trying to edit multimedia content.

It also claims that picture-editing as well as video-editing could be greatly limited due to this technology used.
