YouTube Goes Live Once Again, Indonesia Lifts Ban

Boston (dbTechno) – Indonesia has apparently lifted the ban on YouTube. Last Tuesday, the government ordered ISPs to block sites such as YouTube, which were sharing the Dutch anti-Islamist film Fitna, by Geert Wilders.

According to reports, the ban on YouTube and other video sites has now been lifted. MySpace and Rapidshare were also part of the ban.

The 16-minute film from Wilders was feared to cause a great deal of social harm.

The film caused problems before it was evenr eleased, as host Network Solutions suspended the film’s site.

This is not the first time YouTube has been banned. It has been banned in the past in China, Iran, Turkey, Brazil, and Thailand.

The ban in Indonesia was lifted due to complaints from citizens and others.

ISPs stated they will work to try and block only certain pages instead of the entire site.

Google and YouTube has asked for a list of videos believed to be illegal so they can review, and remove them.
