New York (dbTechno) – The lawyer for TorrentSpy has come out and stated that the $111 million judgment to be paid to the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) will not happen.
Just one day after a Los Angeles federal court ruled in favor of the MPAA, the lawyer, Iraq Rothken, stated that TorrentSpy will not be paying out the money.
The lawyer stated that TorrentSpy just filed for bankruptcy in England one week ago, and has no assets, therefore will not be able to pay the judgment.
The lawyer went as far as to call the entire thing a publicity stunt.
The MPAA won a default judgment against TorrentSpy after they refused to hand over internal documents.
A federal judge ordered TorrentSpy to pay $111 million to the MPAA for copyright infringement of Hollywood movies. They were also ordered to stay offline for good.
The MPAA has stated they will pursue the judgment to get their money.
