Powerset Search Engine To Focus On Meaning, Not Words

New York (dbTechno) – Powerset made the huge announcement on Monday that they have released the latest beta build of their search engine to the public. This new search engine relies on meanings to questions, rather than keywords.

Their new product is a search engine which does not focus on words like your typical search engines. Instead, it relies on meaning when it looks up stuff on the Internet. The technology is called natural language technology, based on patents from PARC.

The company unveiled the new product on Monday, showing that it can deliver answers and results to Internet users that do a lot more than just focus on keywords.

As of right now Powerset is going to only give results from Wikipedia and Freebase just to get things rolling.

General manager and director of product Scott Prevost put out a statement saying “We have focused on making Powerset able to read and understand documents on the web as part of a broader vision to change the way people interact with technology.”

“This first product will make people’s search experience on Wikipedia and Freebase easier, more natural, and more relevant.”

Their plan is to use the technology licensed from PARC to change the way people get content.
