Charter Suspends Plan To Sell Users’ Data To Advertisers

Washington (dbTechno) – The cable company Charter Communications has announced on Tuesday that they are suspending their plan to sell users’ data to an advertising company. They planned to sell users’ data on their web surfing habits and such.

The plan Charter had in place was between them and a firm called NebuAd. The firm was also working with several other Internet providers.

The idea behind the plan was to get details on data from Internet users, and then turn around and use that to present advertisements which were relevant to them.

The plan has been suspended though due to privacy fears.

The company stated the decision was based on concerns over the privacy of their customers, and to maintain a good relationship between the company and customers.
