Washington (dbTechno) – Google has been sued by a Chicago start-up company named LimitNone. The two-count lawsuit is over a tool called Google E-Mail Uploader.
The two-count lawsuit states that Google misappropriated trade secrets, and also violated consumer fraud laws in the state of Illinois.
The Google E-Mail Uploader competes with a similar program from LimitNone called gMove application.
LimitNone stated that Google invited the company to work with them, and then turned around and pretty much stole the technology.
The lawsuit seeks reimbursement from Google of actual damages, attorney’s fees. It calls on the court to award the company with punitive damages.
The lawsuit is worth $1 billion in total.
The idea behind both software tools was to move me-mail, address books, and calendars of corporate customers from Microsoft’s Outlook into Gmail.
