Just A Week After Release, Hackers Jailbreak iPhone 3G

Just a week after the release of Apple's new iPhone 3G, hackers have already announced that the device has been Washington (dbTechno) – Just a week after the release of Apple’s new iPhone 3G, hackers have already announced that the device has been “pwned,” as they have managed to jailbreak it.

The international team of programmers, known as the iPhone-Dev Team, played an integral role in the hacking of the original iPhone.

They were responsible for releasing tools for the original iPhone which allowed users to run third-party software, and to unlock the phones, allowing them to work in other countries and on other networks.

Their latest hack, Pwnage 2.0, manages to jailbreak the brand new iPhone 2G.

Unlike past releases from the group though, this new release does not unlock the iPhone 3G, meaning it cannot yet run on unnauthorized cellular networks.

There have been reports of some problems with the new program from the group, but it is still an achievement to have the iPhone firmware 2.0, as well as the iPhone 3G hacked so soon.
