Washington (dbTechno) – An Italian media company by the name of Mediaset has filed a lawsuit against YouTube, as well as its parent company Google for a total of $780 million.
The lawsuit states that YouTube is responsible for hosting and illegally distributing their programs.
YouTube, according to Mediaset, engages in the illegal distribution and commercial use of their content.
Back on June 10, they report that YouTube features over 325 hours of Mediaset programming, with nearly 4,700 clips in total.
The company put out a statement Wednesday saying “Given the information that’s come to light and the quantity of illegal files on the site, it’s possible to say that the group’s three TV channels lost 315,672 audience viewing days.”
This comes as YouTube is already involved in a $1 billion copyright infringement lawsuit filed by Viacom.
