Privacy Advocates Are Not Pleased With Yahoo Fire Eagle

Boston (dbTechno) – Privacy advocates are reportedly not too happy with Yahoo, and the launch of their new location-based service known as Fire Eagle.

Yahoo revealed on Wednesday their new open platform, allowing users to share their location with the world.

The idea behind this was to allow users to have their location constantly updated via a mobile phone, or something of that nature.

Privacy advocates fear though that this could lead to more dangers for Internet users than anything else.

Yahoo believes that the new Fire Eagle service will give users the ability to share information, while remaining in control.

The company has stated that users will be able to have full control over the information they share.

If they want to, they can hide themselves from certain people, all people, etc.

They can also change their preferences at any time, and delete any stored information.

Privacy advocates are still not buying it though, and probably won’t until they see it in action.

Yahoo is confident though that users will not reveal their location, unless they absolutely want to, and authorize it.
