Washington (dbTechno) – The NASA Phoenix Mars Lander has confirmed that there is indeed snow falling on the red planet.
This is an amazing discovery to say the least, as the Phoenix Mars Lander was able to detect snow falling from the clouds above the surface of the planet.
NASA scientists presented their findings at a press conference on Monday.
On top of the snow fall, the Phoenix also discovered clay, as well as calcium carbonate from samples of the soil on Mars.
This continues to increase the belief that there was once water on the planet.
Getting back to the snow, Phoenix used laser instruments to detect that snow was falling from clouds 2.5 miles above the surface.
The snow though vaporized before it actually was able to reach the ground.
The next step is to look for any signs of snow on the ground of Mars.
