NASA Messenger Reveals Volcanic Lava On Planet Mercury

The NASA Messenger spacecract has provided a much more detailed picture of Mercury overall following its second fly-by of the planet........Washington (dbTechno) – The NASA Messenger spacecraft has provided a much more detailed picture of Mercury overall following its second fly-by of the planet.

The second fly-by took place on October 6th, and had the Messenger spacecraft mapping out a great chunk of the planet.

NASA stated on Wednesday at a briefing that their findings were based on 1,287 pictures that were taken by the Messenger.

All of the images taken were of a side of Mercury that has never been seen before.

The Messenger made some amazing discoveries on the planet to say the least.

They found that lava-filled craters were present on the planet, showing a history of volcanoes.

On top of that, the Messenger also found more on the planets surface such as blue minerals which could be traces of magnesium.

The Messenger is going to orbit Mercury until 2011 and will make one more fly-by.
