The Last Holiday receives its release on the Blu-ray format as we head into the new year, starring none other than Queen Latifah.

This is a remake of an old comedy and is based on the idea that you have this last holiday, where you go all out and spend whatever money you have, not caring about what the future holds.

Latifah’s character finds out she only has three weeks left to live. She decides to empty out her savings, cash any type of bonds or anything like that she has, and go out on a vacation.

The hope is that she will end up having the time of her life, while fulfilling some dreams such as her crush on a co-worker (LL Cool J) and meeting chef Didier (Gerard Depardieu).

The film aims to try and have a lot of fun, and it succeeds in that aspect in many ways. The cast fills out their roles well, while Latifah manages to charm her way to a solid performance. For some fun comedy, The Last Holiday is a good flick to check out.

The video transfer for The Last Holiday is presented in 2.35:1 aspect ratio and is about what I expected. It is not really going to amaze from a visual standpoint, but it is very clear with some solid vibrant colors throughout.

The audio is similar as it is very front-heavy, presented in Dolby TrueHD 5.1. The audio is as clear as can be.

As for the extras, The Last Holiday gets some decent stuff starting out with how long it took for this remake to become reality, over 20-years!

There is also some stuff here that focuses more on how the movie was made, the costumes, production, etc.

Other extras here include the theatrical trailer, deleted scenes, and a few other throw-ins.

The Last Holiday is a nice release on the Blu-ray format as it manages to entertain you for a few hours with its harmless fun. Though it is not a very deep film, it does provide some enjoyment for viewers and is worth a rental if you have not seen it already and want a comedy to watch.

Film: 7.8 Not the best comedy but The Last Holiday is good fun, definitely enjoyable.
Video: 8.2 About what you would expect from this transfer, very clear.
Audio: 8.0 The dialogue takes precedent here and makes for a nice audio mix.
Extras: 7.5 Nothing excessive or original for Blu-ray, but a decent set of extras.

Final Score: 7.8
