Obama To Push Space Exploration With Increased Budget

Barack Obama is following in the footsteps of George W, when it comes to the country's space program.<br /> ....Boston (dbTechno) – Barack Obama is following in the footsteps of George W, when it comes to the country’s space program.

He is proposing an actual increase in the amount of dollars allocated to space research, in order to continue the goal of NASA to retire their fleet of crafts in order to make room for their new ones.

Obama is proposing more than 6% more in funding compared to what Bush allocated last year, and wants to focus on global warming, and returning US astronauts to the moon.

The proposal by Obama would see NASA retire their fleet of spaceships in 2010, thus relying on Russia for rides to the moon.

New space ships would be rolled out over the next 5 years, keeping with the goal to have people land on the moon by 2020.

Obama also wants to add an additional flight into space slated hopefully for next year.

  • Uhmm… I think you meant to say “rely on Russia for rides to the international space station”. It’s not like the Russians have a regular transport going to the moon.

  • What in the world or out of this world is Obama thinking? This is no time to be spending on such things when good people are going to be on the streets soon. They should shut NASA down until they can come up with a fuel efficient engine and help find solutions to problems here on earth.
