The Obama administration announced this week that the funding for the U.S. space agency was going to increase.

In total, the NASA budget for the year 2010 will be $18.7 billion, a roughly $900 million increase over what was available in the year 2009.

The money is going to be spread out throughout NASA, mainly to help pay for the six space shuttle flights that remain.

At the end of the year 2010 though, these space shuttles will be officially retired.

Once that happens, another $3.5 billion is going to be heading towards getting things ready for the Constellation program.

The Obama administration is also going to order an independent review of NASA’s manned space program, to study the programs, and how close NASA really is to sending humans back to the moon.

The only worry at this point is that after 2010, it is believed fundingĀ  may actually decrease than increase.
