AMD Launching Tigris Platform for Laptops

It is being reported that AMD have announced plans to role out a new platform for laptops
Boston (DbTechNo) – It is being reported that AMD have announced plans to role out a new platform for laptops.

They are the second chip maker to come out with a new product within the last week, as Intel just announced their own plans to come out with improved chipsets.

The new platform meant for laptops, will result in better graphics, better speed, and better overall processor capabilities.

Featured are new processor chips which are part of an overhaul of AMD’s laptop platform, to be released, dubbed Tigris.

Tigris, is the name of the platform being unvailed that will compete directly with Intel’s Centrino platform which is found in many a laptop.

Tigris features dual-core Turion II X2 processors, DDR2 memory support and 2MB of L2 cache, all the while drawing less power from the actual processor.

Another plus to Tigris over previous AMD platforms, is the 25% increased length of battery life.

“The mainstream notebook platform delivers fast, responsive performance on Windows 7, even when enjoying the stunning detail of HD audio and videos on a
17 inch screen,” AMD spokesperson Bob Grim told Tech web site TG Daily.
