Boston (DbTechNo) – The latest move to rival Apple comes from Microsoft who have released Zune to compete with the popular iPod.
The new Zune goes on sale today with the 32 gigabyte version retailing for a price less than that of the iPod Touch.
The 16 gigabyte Zune will cost consumers $219, with the 32 gigabyte model costing $289.99.
Users download tracks from the Zune Marketplace, which works the same way as the Apple iTunes store.
This is the latest effort from Microsoft to try to get a foothold in the personal music player market, but personally I do not think they stand a fighting chance.
I can say that without a doubt, all the people I know who are into portable music players have iPods, not one person I know has a Zune.
Apple have just announced plans to roll out a new line of iPods, with features such as a camera that will not be coming to the Zune.
Will any of you go out and buy a Zune?
