Boston (DbTechNo) – According to a report from the UK the new Modern Warfare game has sold more than 1.7 copies in its first 5 days of release.
This is by far the largest amount of units sold during the first week of a game release, good news indeed for the game’s maker, Activision.
According to GfK Chart-Track sales of the game topped sales of the entire entertainment industry, just another sign of its overwhelming popularity with gamers.
Friends of mine have been playing the action packed thriller for days now, one of them even calling in sick last Friday.
All is not good however for Activision, as we have also just learned that Russia have recalled the game.
There is an airport scene in the single player mode of the game that Russian officials do not agree with, and the main theme of the game centers around a dispute between Russia and the United States.
Despite the Russian recall, Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 2 will surely be the biggest game of 2009.
wow, russia called the game back, i find that interesting seeing as you can opt to not play the airport mission when you start the game, and its a video game for crying out loud, do they think that by allowing their people to play through the campaign and engage in a war that its going to create tension or hostile tendencies towards americans? come on. It would be funny if it was banned in britain because general sheppard betrays soap and price.
Actually, it’s probably to spite Activision. This makes sure nobody bothers to buy the legit copy, since you can get the cracked version in any market.
That’s stupid because you don’t see Afhganistan’s whining about us shooting them in Call of Duty 4 modern warfare That proves my point.
