Astronomers Locate New Earth-Like Planet

It is being reported that astronomers have located a new planet, just 40 light-years from earth
Boston (DbTechNo) – It is being reported that astronomers have located a new planet, just 40 light-years from earth.

The earth-like planet has been dubbed GJ 1214b, and is said to be the closest to earth in similarities.

GJ 1214b, found orbiting a star, is more than 2 times larger than our planet and orbits its star every 38 hours.

Similar to earth’s atmosphere, that of this new planet is comprised of hydrogen and helium but sustaining life would be impossible tdue to seering heat.

According to astronomers, the temperature on this new planet, tops the 400 degrees Fahrenheit mark, making life impossible.

“If you want to describe in one sentence what this planet is, it’s a big, hot ocean,” said David Charbonneau of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics.

  • That’s pretty awesome, but keep in mind that just because life may not be sustainable for humans doesn’t mean that there’s not life thriving in the depths of the ocean. We have seen bacteria in places on (and in the) Earth where humans couldn’t live.

  • If it is an ocean then it is very possible that it contains aquadic life of some sort. Humans need to stop thinking of life on another planet as finding other humans
