Boston (DbTechNo) – Sony have announced their intent to delay the release of their motion controller for the Playstation 3 until the fall of 2010.
The motion controller would allow for a WII like experience, allowing gamers to move the controller and have their movements recorded by a sensor that would then move the corresponding gaming character.
The company wants to have more software readily available for the device, thus have made the smart decision to push back the launch date by 6 months.
Makiko Noda, a spokeswoman for Sony Computer Entertainment in Tokyo says that by pushing back the launch of the controller, more gaming titles will also be available to gamers looking to take advantage of the motion controller game play.
WII launched by Nentendo 4 years ago has been the best selling console since it came on the market, leaving Microsoft and Sony in catch up mode.
Sony will lose the advantage they would’ve had over Microsoft if they had have launched their controller in the spring, as was originally intended.
In the fall, Microsoft will be launching their new Project Natal, a gaming system that will be controllerless, using actual body movements to control game play.
