Google Inc. have just made a big splash in the purchasing arena, snapping up DocVerse.

DocVerse allows users to combine the power of the internet, with the many different types of Microsoft’ word processing, spreadsheet or presentation programs.

“With DocVerse, people can begin to experience some of the benefits of Web-based collaboration using the traditional Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint desktop applications,” Google Product Manager Jonathan Rochelle said in a blog post.

Google will pay 25 million dollars for the company, and at the same time, push a little harder against Microsoft who are trying to compete in whatever way they can with the Big G.

This purchase marks the ninth small company that Google has snapped up since September of last year.
