Apple Closing Down Lala Music Service

It is being reported that Apple plan to shut down the Lala music service.

The site will officially close for business on May 31, but new subscribers to the site are already being turned away.

The popular cloud-based music service was purchased by Apple back in December of 2009, but shockingly the company have decided to put it to bed.

The site allowed users to upload their playlists to the service and then access them via a unique web-based interface.

Users of the service could also listen to new songs once for free, and then have the option to buy them.

No fear for current Lala subscribers however as all their existing balance and gift card dollars will be converted into iTunes credit to be used in the Apple virtual download store

Those current users who do not want iTunes credit will receive a check with their remaining dollar balance.
