It was not that long ago when an astronaut walked on the moon for the first time and now NASA has its eyes squarely set on the sun.
The space agency have announced their intent to blast off in 2018 with the destination being the sun’s atmosphere.
For humans to enter into the sun’s atmosphere would be a guaranteed death sentence, which is why NASA would be sending an unmanned spacecraft where no man has ever been.
While in space the craft would orbit in the outer atmosphere, collecting valuable data pertaining to environmental issues and radiation testing.
Because of temperatures approaching 2550 degrees Fahrenheit, the craft would only be able to get within four million miles of the sun, or risk burning up.
If successful this mission would mark the first with the destination being a star.
