It must be nice to be one of the richest companies in the world as Google have settled a privacy suit for only 8.5 million bucks.
The class action lawsuit filed against the company, claimed that Google violated privacy of Gmail users upon releasing Google Buzz back in February.
The product was released to the masses without any form of beta testing first, and problems emerged right away.
Google Buzz, according to the suit, exposed the most frequent Gmail contacts of a user to the public, with the check box to disallow this from happening in a far from prominant location.
Google will now be setting up an $8.5 million fund to be used to hand out financial awards to companies focusing on internet privacy.
Ironic, don’t ya think?
