The FBI has permanently suspended Megaupload when it raided the website’s servers in New Zealand.
Five people were arrested in Auckland, New Zealand — who are considered to be the ring leaders of the accused racketeering and copyright infringement cases.
The RIAA has lost money to piracy from the internet. However the free internet provides more chances of income for the creative artist.
Megaupload was coming out with their new MegaBox music platform, which would have allowed music artist to sell their own work for a staggering 90% profit.
This raid comes a day after many of the internet’s tech giants like wikipedia and reddit.com, went on strike in protest of SOPA/PIPA.
The hacking group Anonymous has retaliated with a strike against the RIAA’s website. The RIAA and major record lablels are supporters of SOPA.
However, many top 40 artist can be seen supporting Megaupload in their online commercial.
