Authorities suspect that Mohammed Alam Naseem may have committed suicide after being returned to a care home following a failed adoption. The 13-year-old boy was found dead in his bed at Woodside House on Monday. Police are also investigating the possibility of an accidental death, as there is some evidence that Naseem may have suffocated. No evidence of foul play was found at the scene.
Naseem returned to Woodside House following a failed adoption by a Muslim family three years ago. News of his death shook residents and staff at Woodside House, who described Naseem as a happy, creative and confident child during his time there.
Naseem’s body was found around lunch time on Monday. Police officers and ambulance crews were called to Woodside House shortly after the discovery. The police will know more about the cause of death once the corner performs an autopsy on Naseem later this week.
