Virgin Mary Tree Trunk: Are You A Tree Believer?

Pilgrims are coming from all over the world to the community of West New York, New Jersey to view a tree trunk that contains an image what some say is a sign from Heaven, reports The CP.

A knot in the trunk is believed to resemble the Virgin Mary.

One community resident, Maria Baez, claims that the knot spoke to her personally and introduced itself as the Virgin Mary.

“We want to build a monument,” explained M Baez. “When I got here I saw her: she said ‘I’m the Virgin.’ I was speechless.”

Another women, Carmen Lopez, even contacted local law enforcement about the presence of the mysterious tree trunk.

Although Lopez wasn’t taken seriously be authorities, a metal barrier has been placed around the tree to prevent vandalism.

Not everyone is “tree Believer.”

“I’m a Catholic and I believe very much in the Virgin, but the picture in this knot is just a coincidence,” said Ed Venicio. “However, I believe that whether or not it’s real, the important thing is that it motivates people’s faith. It gets them to go back to church and remember that God exists.”

A spokesman for the Newark, N.J., archdiocese, Jim Goodness, spoke to the Journal saying, “If it helps people to be stronger in their faith, then it is a good thing. I think it’s more natural to try to encounter God in church, not by expressing your faith to a tree.”
