Surveillance Photo Released of Cal Ripkin’s Mom Abductor
Police are continuing their search for the man who abducted Oriel baseball star’s Cal Ripkin Jr.’s elderly mother earlier this week, holding her at gunpoint for 24 hours prior to releasing her unharmed.
Maryland police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the likely suspect by releasing a surveillance photo of a white male, approximately five feet ten inches in height, wearing a white shirt and orange and white baseball cap.
He is believed to be the man who kidnapped 74-year old Vi Ripkin on Tuesday July 24 at gunpoint, demanding money and a car from the woman.
Police are unsure if the kidnapper knew who Ripkin was since no ransom demand was made of her famous family.
The family released a statement on Wednesday:
“As you now know, our mother was abducted at gunpoint from her home yesterday morning. This has been a very trying time for our family, but we are grateful and relieved that mom is back with us, safe and healthy. We want to thank everyone for their tremendous support, especially all of the law enforcement agencies that worked so hard and quickly. This is an ongoing investigation, so we hope everyone understands that we cannot comment further at this time. Thank you.”
