While on her first vacation outside the United States, Sarai Sierra vanished.
The mother of two was last heard from on January 7,2013. Sierra, who is 33 years old, had originally planned to go on the trip with a close friend. However, the friend cancelled at the last minute.
Instead of giving up her dream of going to Turkey, Sarai went ahead as planned. On January 22, her father arrived at the airport to pick her up. Sarai never exited the plane.
When she failed to get off the plane, her father called the hotel in which she was staying at. Upon further investigation, hotel staff said that all of her belongings were still in the room.
The family has reported her missing to the Istanbul authorities. Sierra’s brother and husband are currently in Turkey to locate her. The family said that the woman had been in Turkey since January 7, 2013.
Sierra’s husband Steven Sierra, said he hoped his wife would be back home soon and that life could return to normal for their family.
“You just want it to end,” he said. “You just want it to be over with so you can go about your life and enjoy your family and be happy again.”
