Anderson Cooper’s Other Little Known Secret: Heir to the Vanderbilt’s
Anderson Cooper, host of the CNN program “Anderson Cooper 360″, recently announced that he is gay. While coming out of the proverbial closet is no longer the big deal it once was, there’s another tidbit about Cooper that many were not aware of: he is the son of Gloria Vanderbilt and the great-great-great-grandson to Cornelius Vanderbilt of the Vanderbilt shipping and railroad fortune, as such is an heir to the vast wealth of the Vanderbilt family.
The net worth of the Vanderbilt family is estimated to be over $167 billion but it’s not know how much of that is in trust for Cooper.
Cooper’s mother Gloria is the one who is actually an heir. His inheritance will likely come when she passes away.
Cooper has two older half-brothers, Leopold Stanislaus “Stan” Stokowski (born 1950), and Christopher Stokowski (born 1952), from Gloria Vanderbilt’s ten-year marriage to the conductor Leopold Stokowski.
Another lesser known tidbit is that Anderson Cooper graduated from the same school in New York as Chevy Chase.
