Boston Bombing Suspect Proclaims Innocence

According to his mother, Boston bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is claiming to be innocent. In an AP interview she recalled a conversation that she recently had with her son. She said that he was completely confused and unaware of any bombing plot. She also claimed that Dzhokhar seemed to be cracking and being driven crazy by the wild accusations being levied against him and his deceased brother, Tamerlan.

Of course the woman, Zubeidat Tsarnaeva, has hardly been a reliable and trustworthy source for information in the investigation. She has proclaimed their innocence ever since the brothers were accused of the bombings and has been a difficult investigation witness, while still constantly being in front of the media.

Tsarnaeva’s statement doesn’t jive with what investigators have uncovered. It was released that Tsarnaev wrote a confession on the walls of the boat that he was hiding in before his capture. The scrawled rantings stated that the attacks were retribution against the US for crimes against Muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan. The writings had statements similar to the man’s bedside interviews with police after his arrest.

Tsarnaev will have a chance in the upcoming months to proclaim his innocence in court. His pre-trial hearing is set for July the 2nd.

The remaining suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings has recovered enough to walk and assured his parents in a telephone conversation that he and his slain brother were innocent, their mother told The Associated Press on Thursday.
