Officer Fatally Shot In Georgia

A police officer in Fulton County, GA has died after a suspect fatally shot him in the head. Officers responded to a call on Wednesday morning, March 4, 2015 saying that someone was firing shots. The caller also told the officers that the person who is responsible may be intoxicated. Neighbors say that the man was going from door to door and firing his gun.

When the police officers arrived on the scene, the man started shooting at them. He hit one of the officers in the head. Gary Stiles is the Fulton County Assistant Police Chief. He says the the police officers were trying to do their job and protect the people in the neighborhood. He also says that the suspect ambushed them without any warning.

The officers shot at the suspect, and he was hit. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. The condition of the suspect remains unknown. The officer who was shot was also taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, and he died a short time later. The identity of the officer has not yet been released. However, Stiles says that the officer had been working with the Fulton County police department for many years.
