Andrew Getty Dies

Los Angeles – Andrew Getty, the 47-year-old grandson of J. Paul Getty, died Tuesday in his home in Hollywood Hills, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The Times, citing Sgt. Kyle Kirkman of the Los Angeles Police Department, said Getty’s cause of death has not been determined.

A female friend was at the home and is cooperating with investigators, LAPD Capt. William Hayes said.

Hayes confirmed the death occurred at a home at Montcalm Avenue but wouldn’t say who owns the home. Records and media reports show Getty owns the 5,000-square foot home, which he bought in 1996.

Hayes told CNN the coroner, who was inside the home, had yet to identify the body.

Earlier, Officer Norma Eisenman told CNN the man who died was not breathing and unconscious when he was found.

Cause unknown: Getty's ex-girlfriend called 911 around 2pm Tuesday afternoon. Paramedics who arrived on the scene found Getty unconscious with a 'traumatic injury to the rectal area' and significant bleeding. Above, Investigators gather outside Getty's home in the Hollywood Hills on Tuesday
