Bill Skarsgard Cast As Pennywise In Remake Of Stephen King’s IT

Hemlock Grove star Bill Skarsgard is in final negotiations to fill the the frightening clown shoes in New Line’s two-movie adaptation of Stephen King’s novel, ‘It.’

Director Andy Muschietti (Mama) is also close to adding Jaeden Lieberher (St. Vincent), Finn Wolfhard, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs, and Jeremy Ray Taylor to the horror project to fill out The Losers’ Club — the central group of friends in the story.

New Line and parent company Warner Bros. set Part 1 of It to arrive September 2017. King’s book follows the Club as children, battling a mysterious being known as “It” that takes the physical form of Pennywise. It also tracks the group as adults, when the clown seems to have reappeared.

The remake of Stephen King’s IT is being produced by Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg, although there is no definitive start date for the project.

The son of actor Stellan Skarsgard and brother of Alexander Skarsgard, Bill Skarsgard is also set to reprise his role as Matthew in The Divergent Series: Ascendant.
