PepsiCo’s Doritos brand of Taco Loco has proven a monumental success for the company. Last year, Taco Bell chain, owned by PepsiCo, launched the “Taco Loco” which is taco inside of a large Doritos nacho cheese flavored taco shell.
The “Taco Loco” proved to be an immense success and Taco Bell was able to sell 375 million units of the tacos which resulted in an expansion of the chain and the creation of 15,000 jobs.
Now, PepsiCo is building on the success of the “Taco Loco” with a first ever “meta” tortilla chip. Computer techies might actually call the chip a “recursive” chip because the Doritos tortilla chip is designed to taste like a “taco designed to taste like a Doritos tortilla chip”.
Ultimately, what PepsiCo is aiming for is to bring the immense success of the Taco Bell “Taco Loco” to grocery and retail stores by putting the item in a bag. Who can blame them? The “Taco Loco” has proven itself so popular that Taco Bell was able to surpass McDonald’s in terms of annual growth.
On April 8, the “Taco Loco” will hit store shelves with the nacho cheese flavored and “cool ranch” flavored versions of the “Taco Loco”.
