Kathryn Barmaid Wins Sexual Harassment Compensation Over Breast Size Remarks
Kathryn Broughton, a soft-spoken 21-year-old, took up work at the Rutland Arms bar in Sheffield City and was told by her boss that she needed to show more cleavage in order to attract customers and earn better tips for herself.
She said her boss suggested she wear a push-up bra and even knick-named her a two word title that starts with “little” and ends with something that rhymes with the word “sits”.
Later, when she took a sick day off of work, he boss remarked to co-workers that she had contracted an STD.
The inappropriate comments and negative attention on her body took a toll on Broughton so she quit the job. Later, she filed a sex harassment claim and won. She was awarded £10,000 for injury to feelings and £529.34.
