A fisherman not only caught and reeled in his catch in the waters of Boca Raton Grande Pass, but he was able to reunite Jack Wiseman with the prosthetic arm he had lost trying to catch the same fish earlier that day.

Wiseman, a wounded veteran, was invited to join the professional fishermen in the area’s Tarpon Tournament Series. As he attempted to reel in his catch, his metal prosthetic, and rod and reel were pulled away by the escaping fish.

Other people fishing in the South Florida tournament over the Memorial Day weekend described their surprise as they watched the event unfold, and the ship’s captain attempt to prevent the fish from swimming off with the hand holding the fishing gear that snapped off the arm.

Wiseman said he was delighted when the fish was caught the same day by someone else with the prosthetic and rod still attached.
