Partial Refund for Woman Forced to Fly Next to Corpse
When Lena Petterson boarded her overnight flight from Amsterdam to Tanzania, she noticed a man who was sweating and having seizures.
“He was sweating and had seizures,” Pettersson told Radio Sweden. “Air hostesses were there all along, but the plane took off anyway.”
Even though she reported this to staff, the flight took off as scheduled.
The Australian reports, during the flight, the man died. The crew laid the corpse out over three seats and covered him with a sheet. His legs and feet were left sticking out.
Due to seating constraints, Petterson was forced to sit across from the corpse for the duration of the flight.
“Of course it was unpleasant, but I am not a person who makes a fuss,” the paper quotes Pettersson as saying.
“I asked to move, but they said there were no other places,” she added.
When she complained to the airline, she was offered a partial refund of her $1400 ticket. Petterson is satisfied with this compensation.
“This feels much better,” Pettersson reportedly told Radio Sweden. “It is reasonable.”
