Bikini’s For Babies?

Parents in Southaven, MS are not happy about one of the newest fashion appearances in their neighborhood. When Gordman’s in their neighborhood started selling onesies for 18-month girls with bikinis printed on them over a developed female body, parents protested.

While it is not uncommon for preteens to wear bikinis today, the parents felt that the implied sexuality on a bikini for a child under two was over the top.

Mom Cathryn McKee told News 5, “I just think that is a little ridiculous that you would put that on your child.” One father who spoke on camera says he wouldn’t let his daughter wear the “bikini” because “it gives people the wrong idea too quickly.”

Commenters on the Action News 5 website were split. “It’s vulgar [sic],” one posted. To each his own, another argued. “If you do not like, then do not buy it,” John wrote.

Saddie Webb said it’s a sign of the times.

“I could be 18-years-old and that would never be allowed in her house, ever,” said Webb.

The outfits are produced by Wild Child which is marketed by Bon Bebe. While it has drawn outrage of some parents, others are not offended by the controversial fashion statement.
