90-Year-Old Sets World Record in Pole Vaulting
While many 90-year olds are too tired to do much apart from staying at home around their family members, Dr. William Bell is setting his own world records. People around the world are focusing on athletes winning medals at the London Olympics but Dr. Bell has set the record as the oldest pole vaulter in the world.
The doctor achieved a seven-foot vault, setting the world record for his age group. He also has plans of practicing bare-chested for the 218-centimeter vault. He still jumps three times a week.
Pole vaulting seems to run in Dr. Bell’s family. His son, Earl Bell, participated in the Los Angeles Olympics of 1984 and won a bronze medal.
Dr. William Bell is from Arkansas.
