Hong Kong Billionaire Offers Unprecedented Reward for Daughter’s Suitors
Hong Kong’s esteemed billionaire businessman Cecil Chao Sze-tsung captured headlines recently, but not necessarily for his business acumen this time around.
Billionaires using their estate to manipulate the marital affairs of their children is nothing new, neither to China or to the rest of the world, but this situation may be an unprecedented one, not just for the immense monetary reward at stake, but for the extenuating circumstances as well.
Gigi Chao, the daughter of the aforementioned tycoon, has been happily married for seven years, to another woman, Sean Eav. Cecil Chao Sze-tun has taken issue with this, and he has offered a whopping reward of $65 million to any man who can effectively separate the two lovers and convince her to marry him instead.
Though Mr. Chao claims to be acting in the best interest of his daughter, the spectacle has become an unnecessary public embarrassment in her life.
