officers let inmates go on beer runs
The American Samoa’s only jail is under fire for allowing inmates to go on beer and food runs. If you are like me then you are scratching your head saying, “what?” I know as preposterous as it sounds, it did happen.
According to Yahoo News, the sad thing is the only reason that they were caught was when a police search was done at the jail and it turned up beer cans in several cells. After investigating they learned that several officers, Fiti Aina and Rocky Tua were allowing some inmates to go on unsupervised trips to the nearby stores. The inmates told investigators that they were released to buy beer, chips and even cookies for the officers.
The scary thing is that these individuals that were allowed to leave the facility unsupervised were not small time offenders.
One of the inmates that was allowed to leave was arrested for assaulting another individual with a machete.
He was currently serving 40 months for that crime. This is not someone that I would want to come face to face with at a gas station.
The two officers,Fiti Aina and Rocky Tua, are now being held on $10,000 bail while they continue to investigate this situation.
