Girl Mistaken for Skunk and Shot
A nine-year old girl wearing a Halloween costume was accidentally shot by a relative, who mistook her for a skunk, outside of a Beaver County home in Western Pennsylvania at approximately 8:30, Saturday night, October20, 2012, reports USA Today.
The incident took place along Brewer Road in New Selwicky Township. The girl was attending a Halloween party and wearing a black costume that included a black hat topped by a white tassel when she was hit by a shotgun blast and pellets in the back, neck, shoulder, and arm by a male relative. Names have not yet been released.
Her condition is unknown, but it is reported that she was awake and able to converse as she was transported to a hospital in Pittsburgh via helicopter.
According to the police department of the township, no decision has been made as to whether to file charges. That decision will be decided by the Beaver County District Attorney’s office.
