World’s strongest beer
In 2010, Dutch brewer Koelschip put out its “Start the Future” beer, which had a 60% ABV(alcohol by volume). Just for comparison, most beers clock in between 3 and 7% ABV.
Now however, a new contender for the title of World’s Strongest Beer has emerged. Brewmeister, a Scottish brewery, has answered Koelschip by producing a beer called Armageddon. Armageddon boasts a whopping 65% ABV.
The beer will be launched in November at the Inverness Beer Festival and the creators want people to know that it should be treated like a fine whiskey.
In other words, As the Post suggests, drink slowly.
Despite being 65%, the beer has a lot of flavour – malty, hoppy, slightly sweet and lots of yeast still in the beer. Be careful though, smelling it is probably enough to put you over the limit!
The beer is made with a freezing process; since water freezes and liquor doesn’t, once the beer is frozen it’s very easy to take the water out, leaving an incredibly strong beer behind. This gives the beer a “viscous texture” according to the brewers and one big punch.
