The well being of many bears staying in a protected park land in Vietnam faces questions about the future, after a minister has told the nonprofit group running the center not to find another location. Many politicians and officials are trying to get the military to find another solution.

Conservation groups believe that this dispute is a symbol of the conflicts emerging in Vietnam’s protected areas. The groups are arguing that when developers want land, there are no issues about environmental safeguards.

Vietnam’s base has expanded to include over 20 parks. Sources claim that local development plans have a bigger emphasis than conservation, since authority figures in Vietnam have sold territory for mines, dams, and infrastructure.

Animals Asia believes that this move would cause the rescued bears to become homeless, and bring down a huge financial investment. There is also worry about how the international community will respond to the eviction.
